Solar Eclipse

We had the opportunity to see a solar eclipse this year and so made an event out of it! A friend invited us over for a BBQ and she had access to some welder's lenses which made it possible for us to look at the sun and see the shadow cross over. We even tried the cereal box method which kinda worked, but the lenses were more fun. (And, Shane was here, too, but for some reason I don't have a picture of him. I'll have to see if our friend got one of us because I could've sworn there was one of us together!)

The kids took the opportunity to play a bit of croquet as well!

Year End Dance Recital

Every year, the competition dancer's dad or mom does a routine at the end of the recital. I did it last year, so it was Shane's turn this year. I must say, I am so proud of Shane. He put his all out there & just had fun. The video says it all! Add to that the fact he did this only a few hours after his first half marathon!

Ogden Half Marathon

Shane & I ran our first half marathon this year. I first must say that I never thought of myself as a runner and never even imagined I'd ever run a half marathon. But, my love for running grew after my first 10K with my sisters last year. I thought running six miles would just about kill me, but I actually did well & enjoyed it! So, when we heard about the Ogden half being such a great run, we had to sign up. We went with some of our friends from Crossfit22 and with our Sunday Run Day group made a few 6 mile trips and one 7 mile run on Thanksgiving up to Todd's house. But, 7 was the most we ever did while "training". We weren't sure how we'd do, but were hoping for under 2 hrs 15 min. Guess what? We did it! We both got it just under 2 hrs 5 min. And, we enjoyed it so much that we signed up for another half marathon in October... the Moab "Other Half". It will be beautiful.

About Me

My photo
Shane and I met my senior year of high school in 1996 and were married in 2000. It's just crazy to think we've known each other for more than a decade and still learn new things about each other. We both graduated from the University of Utah. I have a degree in Finance and Shane has a degree in Biology. We are both enjoying jobs in our respective fields. Our favorite thing to do is travel. Before we started a family, we spent two weeks in Europe touring Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and France. We want to see the world and hopefully take our children along with us when they are older. Our children are our life. Alexander "Lex" is our little man at 7 years old. He loves to try lots of new things. He's currently enrolled in soccer, tumbling & boys' hip hop. Isabel (or Bel as Shane likes to call her) is 3 1/2 years old. She is also enrolled in tumbling & dance. All in all, life is wonderful and we couldn't be happier.
