2011/2012 School Pictures

School pictures couldn't have turned out any more perfect than this did this year. We practiced our smiles the night before and morning of so we could see something more natural and that no eyes were squinting. I think it worked if I do say so myself!

Frightmares 2011

Lagoon season passes this year were a bust. We got our money's worth, but we didn't go near as many times as we did in 2010. We couldn't miss our favorite part of the season, though- Frightmares!

Night of the Nines

  • 9th month of the year
  • 9th birthday
  • 9 movie theme
  • 9 boys
Lex chose to have his birthday party this year with only boys. What a night! Call it crazy. Call it wild. Call it fun. It really was one of the most fun birthday party's I've thrown. At this age and with this group, I almost could have gotten away with just locking them out in the backyard with a bouncy ball and they would have made up their own fun for at least two hours. But, this mom has plans! I even made a schedule which we stuck to for the most part.

The Dirty Dash 10K

We signed up to run the Dirty Dash 10K after having done the 5K in June because it was just so much fun and so different. Running is not our strength, so I was a bit nervous to go twice the distance through the mountain. But, Shane stuck by my side the whole time and we finished in an hour. We were surprised at how well we felt through the whole run. It really didn't feel much longer than the 5K. There were more obstacles this time and I think our favorite was trudging through the pond. The cooler water felt good on our tired muscles. This was Shane's third obstacle run this year and my second although I did run a regular 10K in July. We don't have any more planned this year, but look forward to doing more next year.

Ft. Bridger

I can't recall going to this rendez-vous with Lex before which means it's been nine years since we've attended this event. I don't think it's changed much, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun. Lex & Isabel had most of their cousins camping as well, so there was plenty to do all day.

Shane's primitive attire for day one of black powder shooting.

Grandma Leslie bought the boys their chokers and they were happy to wear them everyday.

We saw this cute little chihuahua while walking traders' row. The owner made this leather outfit for his dog and there was so much detail in it!

We also got to see bagpipers and Indian dancers.

Lex just adores his new cousin, Jax. He was a great helper in trying to entertain Jax when he wasn't feeling too happy.

Shane & Todd after the mountain man "run". Todd took 2nd and Shane took 3rd. The guys had to shoot various targets, set a trap, tell a story, throw a knife, and dance with a stranger!

Shane at "council fire". He took 3rd out of 65 participants in the black powder rifle shoot. Unfortunately, this particular event only places to first which is the prized gun. Maybe next year!

Lex & Dallin were so excited to get their first tomahawks and couldn't wait to test them out. The boys were pretty good shots for first timers. Maybe they can compete in next year's tournaments.

This is Isabel's new doll, Lolli. She wanted a picture of her doll from the front & back!

About Me

My photo
Shane and I met my senior year of high school in 1996 and were married in 2000. It's just crazy to think we've known each other for more than a decade and still learn new things about each other. We both graduated from the University of Utah. I have a degree in Finance and Shane has a degree in Biology. We are both enjoying jobs in our respective fields. Our favorite thing to do is travel. Before we started a family, we spent two weeks in Europe touring Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and France. We want to see the world and hopefully take our children along with us when they are older. Our children are our life. Alexander "Lex" is our little man at 7 years old. He loves to try lots of new things. He's currently enrolled in soccer, tumbling & boys' hip hop. Isabel (or Bel as Shane likes to call her) is 3 1/2 years old. She is also enrolled in tumbling & dance. All in all, life is wonderful and we couldn't be happier.
