Ice Castles & Ice Cream

I'm trying to breakup the winter blues, so decided it might be fun to head to Midway, Utah to eat at an award winning bakery and see some cool ice castles. This is the front of Zermatt Resort. The bakery was just off to the side, so we didn't see the inside of the resort. It looked pretty neat from the outside. Very European.

The kids chose gelato ice cream while Shane and I chose some pastries. I really wasn't impressed. Oh well. It was a very pretty drive up to the resort. We saw a buffalo, zebra, and donkey on our way! Not something you see everyday.

"Backerei & Eis"

We passed through Heber not seeing one chain restaurant (besides typical fast food places), so Shane chose this place. Note to self. Never, ever go to a place that says "under new management, new menu". Not a good sign. The place was cozy enough, but yuck! The food was not good & it was very expensive for what you got. And, to top it off we saw a bunch of really neat looking places we could have gone on our way to Midway to see the ice castles. Next time.

The highlight of the evening was saved for last. The ice castles. Very neat. The kids couldn't get enough of them. They really enjoyed going through each castle and sludging through the ice/snow on the ground.

Shopping is Not for Kids

Shane & I attempted The Gateway with the kids this weekend. Although the weather was beautiful, it was not fun. They do try to behave themselves, but it only lasts so long before the whining sets in. This is what they look for when we enter a store... a place to sit.

What they were really waiting to do was this... Build A Bear clothes shopping! Now, that is definitely shopping for kids!

Overdue Haircut

Well, I got tired of it and had it chopped... about five inches. It will grow back and now we both are happier when it comes time for brushing hair in the morning.

The stylist also taught me this new simple hairstyle I can do on her hair in just a few minutes. It's nice having different things to do so it's not the same piggie tales everyday, although that still happens!

She had to go down the Cookie Cutter slide a few times before we could go. There was no wait when we got there, so she couldn't go before.

Build & Grow- Game Box

These are always fun to go to for the kids. And, who knows? Maybe one day the skills they learn will help them build their dream home!

Happy New Year

We had the opportunity to have Grandma J in Logan watch the kids for us this year, so we spent the evening downtown with some of Shane's friends. Lots of laughs and interesting things to see. Met some weird people downtown, too, but it was all good.

We stayed at the Grand America as well and enjoyed their brunch in the morning. Delicious! After that, we headed back up to Logan to pick up the kids and took Grandma J to dinner at the Texas Roadhouse (her choice) to say THANKS!

About Me

My photo
Shane and I met my senior year of high school in 1996 and were married in 2000. It's just crazy to think we've known each other for more than a decade and still learn new things about each other. We both graduated from the University of Utah. I have a degree in Finance and Shane has a degree in Biology. We are both enjoying jobs in our respective fields. Our favorite thing to do is travel. Before we started a family, we spent two weeks in Europe touring Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and France. We want to see the world and hopefully take our children along with us when they are older. Our children are our life. Alexander "Lex" is our little man at 7 years old. He loves to try lots of new things. He's currently enrolled in soccer, tumbling & boys' hip hop. Isabel (or Bel as Shane likes to call her) is 3 1/2 years old. She is also enrolled in tumbling & dance. All in all, life is wonderful and we couldn't be happier.
